The UGC portfolio checklist before you pitch.

Brands skim. This checklist tells you which samples to show, how to label them and what the link needs, so your portfolio does its job in one look.

The checklist

13 checks, top to bottom

  • Lead with your strongest sample. The first video should be the kind of video you want more of.
  • Show each format you offer. Unboxing, how-to, testimonial-style, problem and solution: one clean sample for each.
  • Open every sample on the hook. Trim so the first three seconds make the point.
  • Make it watchable on mute. Captions on, clear audio, good light on your face and the product.
  • Label each sample in one line. Name the product and what the video had to do.
  • Show hook variations. The same product with three different openers proves you can test.
  • List the specs. Lengths, aspect ratios and delivery formats you can supply.
  • Write a niche line. "I make [type of content] videos for [niche]." Say it once, near the top.
  • Mark self-made samples as samples. Videos for products you own are fine when they are labelled.
  • Keep disclosure visible. If a sample was posted as a brand endorsement, leave the brand relationship clear in the video itself.
  • Check the link logged out. Open it on your phone with no account. If it asks for a login, fix it.
  • End with a contact line and a start date. An email address and the date you have availability from.
  • Keep your rate card ready. Send it when a brand asks, with your own prices filled in.

Trim before you send

Leave out

Everything you have ever made. Anything you cannot show publicly. Samples that do not match the work you want next.

Keep short

Your bio. One niche line, one contact line and one availability date are enough for a brand to act on.

Test it once

Send the link to a friend on a different phone. Ask what they remember after ten seconds. That is your portfolio's first impression.

Quick answers

How many videos should a UGC portfolio have?

Enough to show the formats you want to be hired for, and no more. A few strong samples that each prove something beat a long scroll of everything you have made.

Do I need a website for a UGC portfolio?

No. A single page or folder that opens without a login, works on a phone and lists your samples, formats and contact line is enough.

Should I put my prices in my portfolio?

Keep your rate card ready to send when a brand asks. The kit includes a blank rate-card template so you set every price yourself.
